Traffic Updates

Latest Update

If you are a local resident or regular user of the A6 you will have noticed works starting in February as part of the first phase of our development.

These essential roadworks will allow access to the site and have been carefully planned over the past few years in close co-operation with Charnwood Borough Council, emergency services, the highways authority (Leicester County Council) and bus operators.

In keeping with the community-focused ethos of the Broadnook Garden Village, we want to keep local residents updated on this and all phases of our approved traffic management. So far, we can share the following information, but please keep checking back here for more updates.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER – NORTHBOUND ROTHLEY SLIP ROAD AND A6 NORTHBOUND

Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order at the above locations.

Progress Updates

  • The surfacing of the southbound carriageway was completed on Sunday 24th March 2024.
  • The contingency road closure over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend was not required.

Works are now underway to complete all of the ancillary signage, fencing, induction loops (traffic sensors in the road), cabling works to the traffic signals and the grass seeding.

The existing lane closures will need to remain in place to ensure the safety of both our operatives and other road users, although we will be taking steps to reduce the extent of the traffic management wherever possible to improve journey times through the roadworks.

We anticipate that the traffic signals will be operational, and the road fully reopened to traffic by mid-May, the cones will need to be removed in a phased manner to allow road users to be become accustomed to the new road layout.

We are targeting to start the works to improve the Loughborough Road, Hallfields Road and Cossington Lane junction in Rothley towards the end of June 2024. As the plans for Broadnook Garden Village start to take shape, we want to keep local residents and road users up-to-date with the latest changes to the highways network in the area. Together with our contractors and Leicestershire County Council highways network management team, we will release regular updates on all the latest route diversions, lane closures and any other relevant roadworks information here on our website. Each road closure will be accompanied by a series of diversion route plans for both local and HGV traffic, which you can view here.
